REHOBOTH SUSTAINABILITY INDIA PRIVATE LIMITED
On behalf of Rehoboth and all those who support Rehoboth we welcome you all to Project Maram. We are glad that you have decided to participate in Project Maram where you can find and converse with the other farmers of same interest as you. Rehoboth has a great future and has opportunity to grow across several districts in Tamil Nadu and to the neighbouring states. Rehoboth Small Groups are making a difference in their environments by growing indigenous long stand trees. Farmers with Rehoboth have already planted trees in Tamil Nadu! Every month new small group farmers join and work together in different districts in Tamil Nadu. They work together with good cooperation and care for each other. They work together to plant and grow trees, maintain quality tree seedlings, prepare land for planting and practice conservation agriculture. Rehoboth provides a wonderful platform; a meeting location each month for the small group of farmers to share and learn best practices. We believe that farmers will have success and enjoy the benefits of the project. Take this opportunity to tell us on what subject you need training, and we will be happy to train you and be open to let us know your grievance and we will be very happy to address the same immediately. We will be happy to have your expertise to improve the program and we look forward to having your participation which will help you and other farmers in your and other villages. REHOBOTH PROJECT MARAM - SUMMARY
Project Maram is a combination of (1) growing trees on unused farmland and (2) training on sustainable farming, designed by experienced and awarded social entrepreneur to address the needs of (a) climate, (b) community and (c) biodiversity, the critical issues throughout the world. This project is implemented by Rehoboth Sustainability India Private Limited.
A. Addressing Climate Change and Environmental Degradation
The project aims to empower smallholder farmers to reclaim local unused farmland for tree growth and sustainable agricultural practices. Enhancing tree cover not only enhances air quality and replenishes groundwater but also facilitates continuous CO2 sequestration from the atmosphere, making it beneficial for mitigating global warming.
B. Addressing Social Issues
The project aims to incentivize farmers to utilize their land efficiently, by planting and protecting trees, enabling sustainable multiple income streams and training in conservation farming practices. This agroforestry initiative would create on-farm employment opportunities and income for farmers within their village communities. Consequently, it would deter rural-to-urban migration driven by the quest for employment.
C. Addressing Biodiversity Loss
The project focuses on planting indigenous tree species that foster the thriving of various flora and fauna, leading to improvements in biodiversity and the enhancement of ecosystems. It aims to establish biodiverse groves that support indigenous birds, animals, and plants, contributing to the overall ecological balance and sustainability.
Rehoboth works to address the needs of climate, community and biodiversity by growing trees in Tamil Nadu, India. Farmers interested to participate voluntarily in the project can join project Maram as small groups of 6 to 12 people. This project improves the local environment and provides sustainable incomes to the participants through tree planting activities where the saplings will be provided by Rehoboth. Rehoboth will pay INR 2 for all growing trees once in a year. Small group farmers will own the trees, and all the yields coming from the tree grove and benefit from the training provided on conservation agriculture. Small group farmers who agree with the recommended practices and the terms of participation may join the project and gain the benefits from
